With the help of weekly or bi-weekly cleanings from the professionals at Lancaster Residential Cleaning, you are always ready to be the host or hostess.
#1 Create a Cleaning Schedule
While Lancaster Residential Cleaning can take care of any cleaning situation, it is best to keep your home looking it's best with a cleaning schedule. Keeping up with the laundry, dishes, and windows can be a challenge! If you set aside time on a daily or every other day basis, then large jobs become small jobs and are much more easily accomplished. Create a laundry schedule for you and your family designating days for each member. Dishes are also another chore that you can get the family involved in. Each family member is responsible for doing dishes on a certain day of the week, lightening your load. If it is just you, remember that if you do the dishes right after eating and resist the temptation to stick them in the sick and "do it later" than you are not overwhelmed with a mountain of dishes after a few days. With children, pets, and visitors our windows seem to get the short end of the stick. Choose a day to spend just 10 minutes touching up any finger prints, dog nose prints, and other messes that end up on the glass.
#2 15 Minute Rule
Use your downtime wisely. Waiting for that load of laundry to finish or pot of water to boil? The 15 minute rule is to take just 15 minutes out of your whole day and see what you can conquer in your home! You will be shocked at how much you can accomplish by taking only a short time to clean up. Afterwards, you will feel much better about the way your home looks and feels. You can finally get around to folding and putting away the laundry that has been sitting there for days! Grab an all-purpose cleaner and tackle that makeup and toothpaste grime that always ends up in the sink, while you're in the bathroom give the toilet or shower a quick scrub too. Haven't been sticking to your dishes schedule? Do them now! Is there dog hair on floors? Now is the perfect time to sweep it up or vacuum those high traffic areas. Doing short cleaning activities gets it done fast and you don't spend your whole day cleaning the entire house.
#3 Get Organized
Have a place for everything and keep everything in it's place. This can be hard with kids, but you can still do it! Get some bins, baskets, draw organizers, and basically anything on the home organization aisle at Target and get busy! Toys now have a bin they belong to, remotes have a holder, movies are stacked neatly in baskets, the pantry is neat and labeled, even the laundry room gets new baskets for whites, darks, and light colors for separating into loads. When you know where something is supposed to go, it is a lot easier to clean and tidy up. This also helps teach young kids that when they are finished with a toy or activity that it belongs to a place besides the floor or kitchen table.
#4 Make cleaning a fun activity, not a chore you dread!
Put on your favorite music, listen to a pod cast, or turn on an episode of your favorite show that you may have already seen and get to work! When you are sweeping or vacuuming, throw in some dance moves. Works great for windows and counter top cleaning too! Wax on, Wax off! When you make it something you can enjoy or add a twist too, you're not only having fun but you are being productive!
